About
Margot Black is a highly experienced sustainability leader with more than three decades of expertise spanning urban and regional planning and sustainability strategy. Beginning her career as a planner, she worked extensively in strategic and social planning across Australia before moving into senior sustainability roles within the property sector.
Margot has held leadership positions at some of Australia’s most prominent property organisations, including Investa, Charter Hall, Lendlease and Stockland, where she has been responsible for shaping and delivering sustainability strategies aligned with evolving environmental, social and governance priorities.
Currently General Manager, Sustainability at Investa, Margot plays a key role in driving sustainability outcomes across the organisation and the broader property industry. She is deeply engaged in industry leadership, serving as Chair of the Property Council of Australia’s Sustainability Roundtable and previously leading its Modern Slavery Working Group.
Her influence extends globally through her involvement with the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) and the Investor Group on Climate Change (IGCC), as well as her engagement with the Green Building Council of Australia. A committed mentor, Margot supports the next generation of professionals through programs with the Planning Institute of Australia and the Property Council of Australia.
Margot is widely respected for her long-standing contribution to sustainability and planning, her collaborative leadership style, and her commitment to advancing responsible, future-focused development practices.
